Essential Details for the eLAS transition to Campus Time & Attendance (CTA)

This document provides information for benefit eligible exempt (monthly paid) campus employees who currently track their vacation, sick and personal holiday accruals and time off requests in eLAS.

Why the Change to CTA?

  • To comply with the new financial audit rules that require paid time off to be tracked in an auditable system with enhanced record accuracy.
  • Improved consistency (with our policies) and reliability 

Some key changes

  • Updates to Retro* requests limits:  Limited to current and prior calendar month only
  • Updated approval process:
    • Time off requests to be approved by supervisors (as recorded in Oracle)
    • Time off requests with no action taken by supervisor will be auto-approved after 30 days. 
  • All calculations and balances in hours
  • Calculation of deductions for approved requests: Deductions are calculated on the actual day taken vs first of the month

*Retro request:  Any request for time off taken in the past.

  • Target Date: February 3, 2025

Current exempt (monthly-paid) 01 and 03 campus faculty and staff eLAS.


UAB Hospital/LLC exempt (monthly paid) employees
